About the Winter School

The Wireless Communications and Beyond 5G (TBAE WCB-5G) Winter School took place on 13–17 February 2026 at the TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus in Gebze, Türkiye. Organized by the TÜBİTAK Research Institute of Fundamental Sciences (TBAE), the school focused on future radio access technologies and developments in next-generation wireless communications.

The programme brought together researchers, students and experts to exchange knowledge and discuss emerging research directions in wireless communication systems.

Programme Highlights

The five-day programme explored the evolution of mobile communications from 4G LTE and LTE-Advanced to 5G New Radio and beyond. Lectures covered radio access technologies, the fundamentals of core network architectures, and recent research developments in wireless communications.

Topics also included 5G/6G systems, AI-driven wireless networks, optical wireless communications, non-terrestrial networks (NTN), beam management, estimation techniques and resource allocation. Alongside the technical sessions, participants exchanged perspectives on future communication technologies and opportunities for research collaboration.

CoSiNC Participation and Contributions

Several members of the CoSiNC research team attended the winter school, engaging with the technical programme and exchanging ideas with researchers and experts from different institutions.

Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Arslan contributed to the programme as an instructor and was also listed as a member of the school’s Scientific Committee, representing Istanbul Medipol University.

The school provided an opportunity for CoSiNC team members to broaden their research perspectives, strengthen academic connections and discuss future directions in wireless communications.
